Dolphins Patient Survey on Digital Technology
Thank you very much to those of you who completed the survey.
We received 1,920 electronic responses and 17 paper responses.
The key messages that you gave us are:
• Over half of those who replied (53%) use digital technology to access our services – both the practice website and the NHS App.
• Those who use these technologies mostly do so for requesting a repeat prescription (33%) or self-booking an appointment (19%).
• Of those who use these technologies 32% value them highly or very highly
• The main reasons you gave us for not using these technologies were:
o You did not know that you could do so or do not know what services are available online (63%)
o You don’t have access to a smartphone or computer (29%)
o You are not skilled in using the internet (24%)
o You are concerned about the security of your information (14%)
• We asked what would make you more likely to use these technologies. Your answers were:
o If someone showed me what to do (45%)
o If I were sure my information was kept secure (25%)
o If I felt sure my information would not be sold (17%)
• The areas where you would most like to be able to use technology to access services are:
o Requesting your regular medication
o Viewing my health records
o Receiving test results
o Booking an appointment
o Registering as a new patient
o Requesting a sick note
