Appointments

All consultations are made by appointment which is booked with the Receptionist. These may be made either by phoning or visiting the surgery in person.

Appointments with the doctor are booked at 10 minute intervals. There may be occasions when consultations overrun and we ask you to be patient. If for any reason you no longer require your appointment, please let the Reception staff know as soon as possible so that someone else can use the appointment. We have a limited number of appointments each day and in order for you to be seen, please let the Receptionist know which Health Care Professional you need to be seen by.

For more routine appointments, we offer pre-bookable appointments which you can book upto six weeks in advance. Diabetic and six week post natal checks are also pre-booked.

Home Visits

If you need to request a home visit, please can you let the Receptionist know if possible before 10am. This will be passed to the doctor and they may need to telephone you in order to determine the priority. Home visits are for very ill patients that are too unwell or too frail to come to the surgery. Please remember that home visits use up a large amount of the doctors time so please, when asking for a home visit, make sure that it is absolutely necessary.

Telephone Advice

The Doctors and Practice Nurses are happy to give advice over the phone for problems which do not require an appointment or visit. It is helpful to let the Receptionist know your details so that the relevant records can be made available to the Doctor or Nurse. The Receptionist will ask for your telephone number and the Doctor or Nurse will phone you back when they are available.

Appointment Timing

Doctor and Nurse appointments are for 10 minutes. Occasionally you may have several problems you would like to discuss with the Doctor and it may not be possible to deal with all the problems in one 10 minute slot. Therefore you may be asked to make another appointment or book a double appointment. For minor complaints you can make an appointment to see the Nurse, she can refer you to a Doctor if necessary.
